TULSA?Oral Roberts University Athletics and Nashville-based Broken Poet Productions have released a series of new men's basketball commercials for the upcoming season. The first commercial, featuring All-American Caleb Green, began airing late last week on Cox Communications in Tulsa.

"In the past, we've tried to produce commercials ourselves, with varying degrees of success," said Assoc. Athletic Director for Marketing Scott Higgins. "This year we invested in professionals and it was worth every penny. The commercials are clever and well-produced, and we're confident the City of Tulsa will embrace the spots and the results will show at the turnstiles."

The commercials, which include individual spots with Golden Eagles Jonathan Bluitt and Ken Tutt, were filmed over two days in September. Award-winning Broken Poet Productions, which has gained acclaim in recent years for its music video work with such artists as Chris Cagle, Crossfade, Keith Anderson, Mercy Me, Vince Gill, Rodney Crowell, Lee Ann Womack and others is run by ORU graduates and brothers Eric ('91) and Chris Welch ('01).

"We believe ORU Basketball is on the verge of something special and we wanted to be a part of it," said Chris Welch. "We thought the best way we could help was to use our skills and abilities in producing quality promos for the season. We hope people like what they see."

Broken Poet Productions has produced five number one videos on CMT and their video for Keith Anderson's "Pickin' Wildflowers" was nominated for Academy of Country Music's "Video of the Year".

ORU is a consensus choice to repeat as Mid-Continent Conference champions. The Golden Eagles return four starters from last season's team which went 25-8, captured the Mid-Con regular-season title and advanced to the NIT.

Seventh-year head coach Scott Sutton and the Golden Eagles open the exhibition schedule 7:05 p.m., Nov. 5 against Central Oklahoma.
