December 28, 2005 TULSA--Preseason accolades continue to roll in for Oral Roberts University baseball star Dennis Bigley (Lancaster, Texas), as the senior right-handed pitcher/DH was recently named a preseason First Team All-American by Collegiate Baseball newspaper.Bigley, also selected to the NCBWA's All-America third-team in November as a utility player, makes the Collegiate Baseball squad as a pitcher. Honored with five different All-America awards last season, Bigley finished the 2004 campaign with a 13-1 record and a 2.91 ERA. In 117.2 innings of work, he allowed just 95 hits and 25 walks while striking out 100 batters. The Mid-Continent Conference Pitcher & Player of the Year limited opponents to a .218 batting average, while tossing six complete games in his 16 starts. At the plate, Bigley batted .301 with seven home runs and 29 RBI. The Golden Eagles were 50-11 overall in 2004 and finished the year ranked 18th by Baseball America, ORU's highest end-of-season ranking since finishing 14th in 1985. --ORU-- |
